Almost 30 years ago, in 1993, came out Madame Doubtfire, a very popular family film that marked a generation.
The title role was of course held by Robin Williams, who left us in 2014 and who played alongside Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan.

The film tells the story of a father who loses custody of his children. To see them again, he decides to pretend to be an English governess, Mrs.me Doubtfire, and is hired by his wife to take care of his three children.
If Williams remained on our screens until his death and if we followed the prolific careers of Field and Brosnan, the three actors who played young Nattie, Chris and Lydia have been rather discreet for several years.
Here’s what the three child stars look like today:
Mara Wilson (Natalie «Nattie»)
The youngest of the siblings was played by Mara Wilson, who was five years old at the time of filming, and who was to become a real child star of the 1990s. After her debut in Madame DoubtfireWilson indeed starred in Miracle on the 34e rue in 1994 and Matilda in 1996, among others.
After a busy career, the young Mara retired from the big screen to pursue her studies during the 2000s. She returned to the camera in 2012 and has made a few small appearances since. In 2016, she released a book, Where Am I Now?, in which she says she became a star “a bit by accident”.
Now 35, she devotes part of her time to organizations that work in mental health with adolescents.

Matthew Lawrence (Chris)
Matthew Lawrence was 13 when he played the middle child and only boy in the family, Chris Hillard. The young teenager already had experience at the time, having starred in the popular soap opera Dynasty.
After Madame Doubtfire, the actor continued in the profession and landed several small roles before devoting himself to musicals.
He is known today for his roles in Boy Meets World et Brotherly Love, series in which he starred with his real brothers, Joey and Andrew. More recently, we saw him in the special celebrity edition of Worst Cooks in Americain 2022.
He now makes regular live on Instagram with wild animals in her backyard.
The 42-year-old actor married dancer and entertainer Cheryl Burke in 2017, but it was rumored in February that she filed for divorce.
Lisa Jakub (Lydia)
The actress, who was born in Toronto, was 15 when she played the eldest of the Hillard clan.
According to what Hello Magazine, the young actress had been expelled from her secondary school because she had missed too many days of class during the filming of Madame Doubfire. When Robin Williams heard the news, he wrote a letter to Lydia’s principal trying to convince him to reinstate the student. “The school had Williams’ letter framed but never allowed me back!”
The Canadian has been seen in movies and on TV in the years since the film’s release. She notably appeared in the film Independence Day and the series Jack & Jill.
The actress, who is 43 today, is very active on Instagram and Twitter, where she gave her news in 2018: “After Madame Doubtfire, I played for eight years, then worked in the community, got married, went to college, wrote and published two books, had four dogs, taught yoga and then I’m about to make myself a burrito”.
