The President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador attacked, again, against the media who have disclosed alleged acts of corruption carried out by those close to him and by officials. The most recent was that of the luxury mansions in which he lived Jose Ramon Lopez Beltran on HoustonTexas.
“The coup strategy through the use of media of information that is sold or rented, mercenaries, that strategy that is applied almost everywhere in the world to weaken leaders and governments that confront, that dare to confront, the corrupt power of the elites, here in our time, in our country they don’t make a dent; in Juarez’s expression, they do not take a pen from our gallo“said the federal president.
During a message directed by Lopez Obradoron the occasion of the 109th anniversary of the Mexican Army Day He explained that for a government that seeks to make transformations, there is no better ally than the people themselves.
He reiterated the phrase, which he blamed on former President Benito Juárez: “with the people, everything; without the people, nothing” to state that, in his case “if we were not supported by the majority of Mexicans and, especially by the poor, the corrupt conservatives would have already defeated us or we would have had to rectify and submit to their whims and interests”.
“Without the support of the people, we would not have resisted the intense campaign against us launched by the conventional media and social networks,” he commented, adding that what he considered a “coup strategy” through the media “would not not even a feather is taken from our rooster.”
López Obrador’s response comes a couple of weeks after the publication of the investigation by Latinus and Mexicans Against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI) in which it was revealed that one of the houses in Houston in which he lived Jose Ramon Lopez Beltranson of AMLO, belonged to a former employee of Baker Hughesa Pemex contractor.
