This program dedicated to boys is the best way to teach them about gender equality and above all to detach the image of women from domestic chores.

“You only learn by doing”, is the essence of this decision initiated by the Spanish college, which could only inspire other schools to do the same, especially after the appreciation it had with students who completed the module.

Reluctant and shy at first, the students did not know what it was about. We go to school to learn science, literature, art, drawing and at the limit participate in extracurricular activities… But what about learning to iron clothes, cook and do the dishes? ? Is it then a sector of “domestic tasks” or is it extra courses that the school offers to its students?

The correct answer is that the management of this establishment has shown maturity by making an unprecedented decision that deserves all the praise: teaching the boys to do household chores like grown-ups.

On the one hand, they become aware that these tasks are not the sole responsibility of women, on the other hand, with this learning, they will be able to manage easily in several situations! Who says better ?

These same students who tended to reject this initiative are the same today who take pleasure in letting off steam in the workshops reserved for these courses, learning from each other, de-stressing during exam periods and creating an atmosphere fun outside the classroom.

Moreover, this apprenticeship opens their eyes to hidden talents that they were completely unaware of before. Don’t we say that the best chefs are men? Moreover, it must be admitted that the masculinity of the great men they will soon become, associated with the household skills they are in the process of learning, will make them perfectly independent men who know how to get by with the means at hand. in all everyday situations.

You know… School is not a machine for engineers, doctors, astronauts or whatever… Rather, school is a place where students explore and hone their talents. It is squarely an approach of values and humanism which takes precedence over all square sciences.

That said, the Montecastello college is fully aware of the importance of these activities and their repercussions on the future of these boys, who are still eager to learn. Young and carefree, they still have the intellectual and physical capacity to rush into new disciplines that they seemed to completely rule out at the start.

Perhaps these students would never have taken the leap if this initiative had come from their mothers at home. This is where the school played a major role!

In conclusion, we imagine that these boys will also be very tender, loving and helpful husbands and dads in the future. They won’t make their wives shoulder all the drudgery because they are in the best position to guess that it’s not always easy to have a clean home, a well-made dish and fresh, creased linen.

Moreover, according to a survey conducted by the Research Center for the Study and Observation of Living Conditions (CREDOC), it was revealed that in 93% of couples, it is the woman who takes care of the domestic chores. Moreover, with the arrival of the children, she spends 48 minutes maintaining the house, while the man devotes only 12 minutes to this task. We then understand that parity is unfortunately an ideal that is difficult to achieve.
