Singer Thomas Anders has postponed his tour of Russia due to the war in Ukraine. He uses his popularity to tell Russian fans the truth about the attack.

Thomas Anders actually wanted to visit Russia again. The former Modern Talking singer is very popular in the country and has many fans. But the Ukraine war changes everything for him too: The 59-year-old has postponed his upcoming tour of Russia. Instead, he now enlightens Russian fans about what is really happening in Ukraine.

A Russian fan club leader wrote to him and expressed her regret that his concerts would not take place because of a “small conflict”, Anders told the RTL interview. The pop star then had to clear up a misunderstanding: “I then wrote to her: rockets are flying at cities like Kyiv and others, people are dying there, it’s no small conflict,” says Anders.

Thomas Anders does not want to let Russian lies about the Ukraine war stand

The war in Ukraine continues to be hushed up in the Russian media. Last week, the Russian parliament voted in favor of a law that would punish those who spread alleged misinformation about the Russian armed forces with up to 15 years in prison. This also includes calling the Russian attack a war.

Thomas Anders opposes the propaganda and uses his popularity to do educational work. He didn’t want to let the trivializing statements stand, he explained in an interview with T-Online: “Should I alienate fans with my ‘enlightenment mail’, then unfortunately that’s the case. But I won’t allow myself to stand up for my values ​​​​and attitude. ”
