The big story of the qualifying, which took place in dry conditions and an air temperature of around 16 degrees, is Mirko Bortolotti (SSR-Lamborghini), who couldn’t get past eighth place with a lap time of 1:37.577 and is 0.429 seconds behind. The Italian previously clocked a 1:37.0, but this lap was revoked due to a track limit violation.

Sheldon van der Linde loses last chance for the title
Even if it doesn’t look like rain at the moment, Feller wouldn’t complain about the unpredictable weather in the afternoon. “Maybe not completely wet, but half wet. Slicks in the rain or something like that, that would be great,” grins the Abt Audi driver, who starts one place behind his teammate Kelvin van der Linde.
By the way, brother Sheldon van der Linde is now finally out of the title race, as the South African Schubert BMW driver couldn’t get past 27th place, 1.708 seconds behind. As a result, he is now 55 points behind in the championship, with only 53 points up for grabs. Qualifying didn’t go as planned for Mercedes-AMG either: HRT driver Luca Stolz finished tenth, 0.504 seconds behind, as the best driver of the brand with the star.
