Thomas, a 35-year-old resident of Westende, wanted to treat himself by buying a car worth 80,000 euros. But he never got it…

To buy this racing car, Thomas turned abroad, reports HLN. So he searches on the main German site for the sale of new and used cars and comes across a Polish mechanic.

So he goes to Poland to see the car. “I checked the chassis number to make sure the car hadn’t been stolen or reported stolen, but it wasn’t. […] As for the seller, I noted the details of his passport. In fact, everything seemed correct”.

But things got complicated when Thomas paid the mechanic. The 35-year-old Belgian had nevertheless made an instant transfer but the Polish mechanic claimed to have received nothing.

Thomas therefore spent the weekend in Poland and will file a complaint with the local police. He went, with Polish police, on the spot, and the mechanic confided that the car was no longer for sale and that the money would be refunded.

Several months later, still nothing on Thomas’ account. “I lost 80,000 euros and I don’t have the car. I have to pay 1,000 euros per month to repay the loan I took out to buy the car, which I will probably never see,” says the man who hired a Polish lawyer to recover his money.

An investigation was opened and 80,000 euros in cash were found at the home of a suspect.
