SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Klay Thompson stood out with 28 points, Stephen Curry contributed 27 and the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers 126-106 on Saturday for their fifth victory.

The “Splash Brothers” combined to score 22 points in the third quarter, leading the Warriors to a 12-point lead at the start of the quarter. Thompson, who has scored at least 20 points in his last five games after a slow start, scored 11 straight points in the period, including back-to-back 3-pointers.

The five-game winning streak matched the longest Golden State has had all season. The Warriors have improved to 15-14 — they haven’t been above .500 since Nov. 12.

Now, they are preparing to play a Christmas duel in Denver.

Golden State improved to 3-0 against Portland this month. They beat the Trail Blazers at home on December 6 and repeated the visit on the 17th.
