American Michael Thompson, a professional for the men’s first team basketball at Al-Ahly Club, expressed his great happiness after winning the Super League title, after defeating Al-Ittihad of Alexandria 3-2.
Thompson said in exclusive statements to Laila Koura: “I am very happy to have won 5 trophies with the team in one season, and I am more than happy to win the Super League title, which is the most important in my career with the team, because it will give us play in the BAL CAF Championship.”
Al-Ahly won the Men’s Super League title for the sixth time in its history, after defeating Al-Ittihad of Alexandria in the final round, 3-2.
He added, “This season is special for me and the club, and it is also one of the best seasons for the club in history.”
He stressed, “We have a great team and technical management at the highest level, and we gave everything we had throughout the season, whether on the defensive or offensive level.”
He talked about the reasons for losing the fourth match and said: “The main reason behind our loss in the fourth match is due to the low level of defense, especially at the beginning of the match. We tried to win the match, but we did not succeed in that.”
The Al-Ahly basketball professional commented on the club president’s imitation of gold medals and said: “It is a great honor to imitate the club president for gold medals.”
Michael Thompson continued his talk about Al-Ahly’s qualification for the BAL Championship and said: “Qualifying for the BAL Championship is a great achievement, as it will give the team an opportunity to compete for a new title.”
The Al-Ahly basketball professional concluded his speech by saying: “I would like to thank the Al-Ahly fans for this support, which helped us win all these titles.”
