Chavakkad: Three students drowned in a shrimp pond at Orumanayoor in Chavakkad, Thrissur. The deceased have been identified as Varun (16), Surya (16) and Muhsin (16), residents of Palayur Church, Chavakkad.
Accompanied by their companions, they landed in a shrimp pond near the Kaluttakkal lake and sank in the mud. The accident happened on Thursday followingnoon.
Five children came to bathe here. Two of these had gone up earlier. The other three were drowning in the mud. This is a muddy place. The bodies had already been exhumed by locals before firefighters arrived on the scene.
