Thuin Sambre Dog Searches: Rescue Efforts Underway

2024-02-28 12:54:00

This Tuesday, we learned that a man had disappeared following jumping into the Sambre to help his partner and their three dogs who had fallen into the water. In Thuin, today, research has resumed. Two boats travel the Sambre. “A boat with a sonar which started at the site of the accident and a boat with divers which will check the banks visually“, explains David Rimaux, commissioner of the missing persons unit.

The searches are taking place over a kilometer, but in better conditions than this Tuesday. “Yesterday, there was a lot of current, which made searching complicated. Today, we are lucky at this level. We also closed the locks so that the current would be less strong and that would allow us to search in better conditions.” declares the commissioner of the missing persons unit.

The search continues, but hopes of finding the victim alive are almost zero. “Unfortunately, when we look for a missing person in the water, we know that very quickly the possibility of finding them alive is no longer present.“, deplores David Rimaux
