After elimination at the 2023 play-in tournament, we expect the Thunder in force for the 2023-24 season. While waiting for the start of the school year, there is still the summer league where all the young people like Jalen Williams and the Frenchman Ousmane Dieng will return, just like… Chet Holmgren, who will return to the field after a year without playing.
The Summer League is a big event of the season, because every year this competition allows us to feed the hungry people that we are after three weeks without the NBA. All the franchises of the League will be present in Las Vegas in mid-July and will be able to see their young people and rookies just drafted on June 22, against opponents also battling for a spot and minutes on an NBA roster. The revelation and finalist for the title of Rookie of the Year Jalen Williams therefore returns for his second Summer League, just like Ousmane Dieng. The Frenchie drafted in eleventh position last year should use this opportunity to grab playing time for the following season pending the potential arrival of a rival on his post.
But the expected comeback of all is obviously that of Chet Holmgren. He had participated in a few meetings in Las Vegas last summer but was injured in a semi-pro match in a dodgy Seattle gym against LeBron James. A sprain from Lisfranc, a serious injury with a long recovery that kept the number 2 of the 2023 Draft off the court for a year. No more no less. Everyone is therefore eager to see him back on the court, especially if the NBA organizes a match against the Spurs during the Summer League in Las Vegas…
