A 30-year-old passenger on a two-wheeler fell on the highway on Sunday. She was fatally hit by a car.
A 43-year-old Swiss motorcyclist residing in the Ticino region and his passenger, a 36-year-old Italian citizen residing in Mendrisiotto, were traveling southbound on the A2 motorway around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. For reasons under investigation, the woman fell from the motorcycle and was then hit by a car driven by a 23-year-old Italian woman from the province of Como. Help arrived quickly. The 30-year-old died on the spot as a result of her serious injuries. The other people involved in the accident were not injured. In order to allow the necessary rescue operations and investigations, the section of motorway affected by the accident was closed until 5 am.
