Tignes Big Air World Cup Final: Recap and Results

The Big Air World Cup final was held today in changeable conditions in Tignes (FRA), where the freeskiers are stopping for the third time. After Salzburg’s Matej Svancer won his heat in yesterday’s Big Air qualification, he narrowly missed the podium in fourth place.

Head coach Martin Premstaller is absolutely satisfied with today’s result, even though it was just not enough for the podium. “The conditions weren’t exactly easy. It was still a bit windy during training until some snow started falling, which slowed everything down. With jumps like this, changing conditions are difficult to assess, especially mentally.”

The finalists had a total of three runs, with the total number of points from the two best different jumps counting towards the final result.

Svancer is excited about another NBD jump in his collection. In the third round he shows a “Double Baron Flip with Critical Grab”, which is rewarded with 93.75 points. Together with the 86.50 points from his first round for a “Nolli Dub Cork 1080 Bring Back to 900 Double Japan” he gets a total of 180.25 points.

“We were in the final with two athletes, the level was high, but we can absolutely keep up,” adds Martin Premstaller.

Lukas Müllauer is happy with his start to the final with a “Switch Double Cork 1800 Blunt” for which he received 85.00 points. In the second jump, a “Double Cork 1800 Tailgrab”, he didn’t get the grab clean and received 69.75 points. Unfortunately, he was unable to land the same jump cleanly in the third round and therefore was unable to improve his score. In the final he didn’t do the jumps as smoothly as he did in the qualification.

The Tyrolean Daniel Bacher landed in 50th place at the last Big Air World Cup this season.

The Big Air overall World Cup ranking was won by the Swiss Mathilde Gremaud for the women and the American Alexander Hall (USA) for the men.
