TikTok Challenge: Don’t Cook Your Chicken With Nyquil

A new challenge popularized on TikTok has many people cooking chicken in Nyquil syrup or other similar cold medication, a dangerous practice, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned.

According to the US Federal Food Administration, cooking with drugs carries health risks on several levels. Although this challenge seems crazy and disgusting, it is also very dangerous since one can unknowingly increase the concentration of the drug and change its properties.

“Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the drug vapors while cooking can cause high levels of the drug to enter your body,” the FDA said in a notice.

The organization also denounced other popular challenges on the social network, including one in which young people are encouraged to take a high dose of allergy medication to induce hallucinations.

The FDA recalls that it warned the public of the dangers of this challenge following several teenagers visited the emergency room because of this TikTok challenge.
