TikTok’s E-commerce Expansion: Advertising Links for Goods During Live Streams Expected to Hit $20 Billion

2023-06-08 08:03:18

The Chinese short video app TikTok wants to significantly expand its e-commerce platform. In the current year, the business with links for goods during live transmissions is expected to quadruple to up to 20 billion dollars (18.66 billion euros), the Bloomberg agency reported yesterday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The app, which is particularly popular with young people, is increasingly focusing on markets such as Indonesia and is working on expanding its sales in the USA and Europe.

TikTok and its Chinese parent company ByteDance have been criticized worldwide for their proximity to the government in Beijing. Security authorities fear that the People’s Republic will tap personal user data or misuse it to manipulate public opinion. TikTok and the Chinese government have denied the allegations. TikTok did not immediately respond to a Archyde.com request for comment.
