TILT Capital, the impact-first investment platform operated by The/Nudge Foundation, has launched its inaugural ₹250 crore venture fund. The vehicle targets early-stage, seed to Series A businesses addressing India’s Next Billion, deploying cheques between ₹2 crore and ₹16 crore to back long-term livelihood solutions.
The Bottom Line
- Fund Architecture: A dedicated ₹250 crore pool designed to provide patient, impact-first capital for formative-stage businesses.
- Ticket Size: Individual investments range from ₹2 crore to ₹16 crore, focusing primarily on seed to Series A rounds.
- Backing and Ecosystem: Supported by the Livelihood Impact Fund alongside notable entrepreneurs including Deep Kalra, Binny Bansal, and Vidit Aatrey.
Addressing the Patient Capital Deficit in Early-Stage Impact Ventures
India’s entrepreneurial landscape features a persistent structural gap: the scarcity of patient capital for startups operating in low-income markets. While mainstream capital typically enters once growth prospects are clearer and risks lower, ventures serving India’s Next Billion often require extended runways to establish product-market fit and build resilient distribution networks.
TILT Capital is designed to absorb these extended timelines. By providing capital aligned with the operational realities of impact-led enterprises, the platform seeks to support ventures earlier in their journey. Livelihood-focused ventures frequently demand patient horizons to achieve sustainable value creation.
The fund’s strategic focus centers on science- and technology-driven solutions across key sectors. These include agricultural value chains, climate resilience, informal work models, MSME productivity, financial inclusion, and artificial intelligence applications addressing livelihood challenges. But investment capital alone may not be sufficient in these complex markets.
To mitigate execution risks, TILT intends to support ecosystem infrastructure, market development, and research partnerships. This dual approach aims to bridge the gap between initial philanthropic validation and eventual commercial scalability.
High-Profile Backing and Institutional Heritage
The platform builds upon an eight-year operating track record established by The/Nudge Foundation. Over this period, the organization supported over 190 social enterprises and deployed approximately ₹180 crore in grants. This ecosystem produced notable outcomes, including 23 founders recognized on Forbes 30 Under 30 lists, three Earthshot Prize winners, and 18 Acumen Fellows.
The transition from philanthropic grants to a structured venture fund reflects the maturation of these enterprises. As founders progressed from early validation toward commercial scale, the limitation of grant capital became apparent. Atul Satija, founder and managing partner at TILT Capital, outlined the long-term ambition for the vehicle.
“Over the next 15 years, we aim to back 150+ startups and meaningfully improve 100 million lives. We hope to show what becomes possible when capital is designed around the realities of impact-led businesses,” Satija noted.

Navigating Market Readiness and Long-Term Value Creation
“At TILT, we believe markets move where capital points, and we want to reimagine how impact investing can work in India by directing capital towards opportunities that can create lasting value,” said Richa Singh, co-founder and managing partner at TILT Capital.
Singh emphasized that India’s Next Billion demographic demonstrates increasing readiness for scalable market solutions. By equipping founders with patient resources, TILT aims to build resilience and align capital more closely with the realities of the markets and communities they serve.
