While Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are still generally regarded as the kings of the Metroid subgenre, there are some very good alternatives. One of them is Timespinner from Lunar Ray Games, released in 2018 following a very successful Kickstarter campaign. Now, the same studio has announced a sequel, titled Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream. If the first trailer and screenshots are anything to go by, it looks like we’re getting more of what we already love regarding the franchise as we return to the fantasy world of Surflynd, with a soundtrack once once more composed by Jeff Bauer. No formats other than PC have been confirmed yet, but it will be released on “consoles.” The first game was released for PlayStation, Switch and Xbox – so this title is a fair chance too. HQ
