Innsbruck (OTS) Clear coalition announcements by politicians before an election are rare. There was one by Hans Peter Doskozil before the member survey about the future number 1 in the SPÖ. He is striving for a “traffic light”, i.e. an alliance of red, green and pink. A pact with the FPÖ is out of the question for him. He also does not give in to cooperation with the ÖVP, he says. After being elected chairman and top candidate at the special party conference, Doskozil reaffirmed these commitments. In doing so, he tried and still tries to win over the party left around Andreas Babler. For weeks, Doskozil fans have not been promoting him primarily with his content-related positions. The electoral strategy was always argued: Only with the red from Burgenland could black-blue or blue-black be prevented in the alliance. Only he can attract FPÖ and ÖVP voters to the SPÖ, with Babler that is not possible. A strange recruitment attempt given Doskozil’s traffic light request. Why should people who have previously ticked the blue or the turquoise be in favor of an SPÖ leader who wants to work with the Greens and NEOS? So with that for a political liaison that you don’t want?
A coalition announcement is good because citizens know what they are potentially getting by voting for a party after the election. However, it should not conflict with self-marketing as a voice bringer.
