He Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said this Saturday that the country has increased its defense and response capacity to the possibility of “a planned attack by Iran and its representatives against the State of Israel.”
“In recent days, we have strengthened our defensive and offensive ensemble and we are determined to take all necessary measures to defend citizens,” Gallant said in a statement, in which he detailed that there are new capabilities “on land, air and sea ” and in coordination with partners such as the United States.
“We are determined to defend our citizens against terrorism (from Iran) and we will know how to respond,” he added.
This message comes hours after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard hijacked a ship in the Persian Gulf, linked to the ‘Zodiac Maritime’ company owned by an Israeli billionaire and flying the Portuguese flag.
He Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz confirmed the event and asked the European Union to declare this Iranian military body a “terrorist organization” and subject it to sanctions.
This capture further raised tension throughout the Middle East, but especially in Israel, which awaits a retaliatory attack.
