To eat is to live, but at what cost?

I don’t know how other families do, but I no longer know how to adjust my budget to eat properly without feeling cramped in my finances, week following week. With my two children aged six and eight, in joint custody, I juggle my purchases as if I had to solve a giant puzzle on a daily basis.

I don’t know how the others do it, but some weeks I feel stuck like a little mouse in the end of a dead end hallway. I don’t drink coffee anymore so as not to deprive my children of the cereals they like, I have increased the amount of stuffy pasta dishes, even if it is not very good for my figure (especially since the children love that), and I allow us only one meat meal a week. For the moment, the children do not realize it too much, hoping that it lasts. Do you have any suggestions ?

I tell you that food banks exist even if you resist using them and that there may be a community kitchen in your neighborhood that you might sign up for.
