The Burkinabè armed forces are launching popular mobilization to deal with armed terrorist groups. Recruitment of 35,000 volunteers on behalf of the country’s municipalities and 15,000 volunteers for the patriotic watch and defense brigade is underway. Volunteers who will be trained and put to use in the fight against terrorism. The creation of this brigade had been decided during a Superior Defense Council under the former president, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Henri Damiba. Its missions: the operational coordination of the civil defense of the territory, the contribution to the search for intelligence and the defense of certain parts of the territory if necessary.

The Burkinabè army needs reinforcements, particularly for the patriotic watch and defense brigadewhose creation had been decided during a Higher Defense Council under the former president, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba. Its missions: the operational coordination of the civil defense of the territory, the contribution to the search for intelligence and the defense of certain parts of the territory if necessary.

In the process begun, the recruitment of 35,000 volunteers is planned, or 100 people per commune in Burkina Faso. These volunteers will have the mission of protecting the people and property of their communes of origin alongside the armed forces.

In addition to these civilian auxiliaries on behalf of the municipalities, the commander of the watch and patriotic defense brigade is looking for 15,000 other volunteers as part of popular mobilization for the defense of the territory against terrorism.

This operation is aimed at all Burkinabe aged at least 18 years. All aspirants must be patriotic and of good character, and be physically and psychologically fit according to the rating. Successful candidates will undergo military and civic training.

These volunteers are in addition to the exceptional recruitment of 6,000 young people on behalf of the armed forces, ” which will allow a better occupation of the national territory “, according to a source close to the staff of the armies.
