The United States on Monday called Vladimir Putin’s claims that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was “preventive” a “flagrant absurdity” and an “insult” to the victims.
‘To speak of defensive action is blatant nonsense, to speak of anything other than premeditated war’ is ‘an affront to historical truth,’ US diplomacy spokesman Ned Price said after the speech of the Russian president for May 9, which marks the victory over the Nazis in 1945.
“It’s an insult to those who lost their lives and those who were victims of this senseless oppression.”
