Egypt – Egypt announced the almost completion of the construction of the first factory of its kind in the Middle East to provide medicines for cancer and chronic diseases, to confront high prices and the cost of importing.

The Egyptian International Pharmaceutical Industries Company (EPICO) revealed that approximately 90% of the “EPICO 3” factory project for the production of biological preparations and alternatives will be completed during the year 2023, to build the first factory of its kind in the Middle East, as part of efforts towards alleviating the burden of the unavailability of medicines for cancer and chronic diseases, or High prices, and to create self-sufficiency in Egypt of these preparations.

According to the minutes of the company’s ordinary general assembly meeting, sent to the Egyptian Stock Exchange, the most difficult stage was completed, as the production area buildings were shipped and received in the third quarter of 2023, and installed in a period of time not exceeding 21 days by the Pharmdule Morimatsu company’s work team, estimated at 70 engineers and technicians came from Sweden and China to Egypt specifically to install the modular building, as well as to ship and receive a large part of the project’s machines and production lines.

The company added that amounts estimated at 2,143 million pounds were pumped during the year 2023, bringing the total pumped into the project to approximately 2,923 million pounds.
