Study: Three Swiss hospitals are among the 15 best in the world

Hospital visits are never a pleasant thing – but according to an international study, the quality of treatment in Switzerland is at a high level. Together with the Statista portal, “Newsweek” magazine has examined thousands of hospitals worldwide for the sixth time and chosen the best based on surveys among specialists, patient opinions, equipment and operation as well as the so-called therapeutic success.
As the best Swiss hospital, the University Hospital of Zurich made it to tenth place, achieving a total score of 93.30 out of 100 possible points in the “Newsweek” evaluation.
This is how Swiss hospitals perform
The University Hospital of Vaud in Lausanne comes in 13th, followed by the University Hospital of Basel in 14th place. You can see how other Swiss hospitals performed in the graphic below.
The top five are firmly in the hands of clinics in Canada and the USA. While the Mayo Clinic in Rochester is, according to the study, the best of the 2,400 hospitals examined from 30 countries, treatment in private clinics is probably not affordable for most ordinary people in the USA.
Thanks to the health systems of the respective countries, the situation is different in the European hospitals that take the next top places: the Charité in Berlin comes in sixth place, the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, in seventh place and the Hôpital Universitaire Pitié Salpêtrière in Paris in the Eight.
