Top 3 Most Crowded European Destinations: Dubrovnik, Venice, and Bruges

The holiday rental comparator Holidu, relayed by our colleagues from Le Soir, has just published a ranking of the most “crowded” destinations in Europe in summer… and surprise, a Belgian city is in the Top 3!

This study was carried out on the basis of annual tourism figures, in relation to the population of the city. Clearly, the site has counted the number of tourists per inhabitant for the various European destinations.

It is the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, famous for its landscapes and especially for having hosted the filming of the hit series “Game of Thrones”, which is in the lead, with 36 tourists per inhabitant. This place can also be understood because of the relatively small population compared to the numbers of tourists who come there.

Unsurprisingly, Venice is at the top of the ranking and ranks second, behind Dubrovnik, with 21 tourists per inhabitant. Finally, the third place is attributed to the “little sister” of Venice, Bruges. Indeed, the Flemish city is often nicknamed as “the Venice of the North”.

Also with 21 tourists per inhabitant, Bruges and its medieval landscapes continue to attract quite a few European tourists.
