This year, Hélène Darroze has no brigade… At least that’s what the candidates and the other members of the jury think. In reality, the chef launched a parallel competition, Top Chef: the hidden brigade, in which Hélène Darroze offers a second chance to previously eliminated candidates. Each week, the eliminated candidate faces the one who left the competition the previous week to try to keep a foothold in the competition. What’s new in Top Chef 2023?
“That’s the magic of Top Chef discover new things and still having so much fun!” Philippe Etchebest set the tone for the next season of Top Chef. New events, new challenges, new format… We can say that season 14 of the culinary competition is the season of renewal.
Before telling you about the new features in general, one of them should delight all fans of the show. Indeed, for several years, many complained about the length of the program. The production heard the grievances of its 3 million viewers and good news: the show now lasts less than 2 hours each evening. A brief update on the other new features:
- Fewer challenges: Two proofs instead of 3, “ÇIt really changes the dynamic, even for us! ” confessed chef Paul Pairet.
- No more last chance trials : the evening will now be divided into three stages: a qualifying round, an eliminatory round and the round led by Hélène Darroze for her famous repechage.
- The White Box : inside it, each dish is tasted sense by sense.
- The Resto War remains but evolves : the candidates will indeed compete against the jury, Philippe Etchebest, Paul Pairet and Glenn Viel who will open their own establishment.
