Top Gun Maverick: more records for Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise must congratulate himself every day for having waited two years for the end of confinement before the release of Top Gun : Maverick. Since then, the blockbuster has indeed continued to break records. Like the best start for one of his films, for example.

This weekend, he has just added two to his rich collection. With 291.6 million dollars at the American box office, this sequel becomes Tom Cruise’s film having brought in the most money in the United States. Since 2005, this title went to War of the Worlds, with 243.3 million dollars. In the whole world, Top Gun : Maverick grossed $548.6 million.

Even stronger: by losing only 32% of receipts in the second week, this second aerial component stands out as the film which has decreased the least of all time in the United States after having exceeded the bar of 100 million dollars in receipts the first seven days. So far it was Shrek 2 the record holder, with a descent of only 33% in the second week.

At this rate, Top Gun : Maverick has not finished filling pages of the Guinness Book
