An unlikely duo, consisting of Sweden’s Linn Grant (photo), 28th player in the world, and Thai debutant Jaravee Boonchant (153rd), occupied the top of the leaderboard of the Dana Open, Thursday evening in Ohio. Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, the only French representative, sank from this 1st round and returned a card of 80 synonymous with 143rd place.

On the course of Highland Meadows Golf Club to Sylvania, the Swedish Lynn Grant (7 birdies) and the Thai debutante Jaravee Boonchant (7 birdies, 1 eagle, 2 bogeys), took the lead at the Dana Open on Thursday in Ohio, climbing immediately to -7.

This 1st round also allowed the Hawaiian Alice’s Bodyeagerly awaited by the fans, to show that his victory at theUS Women’s Openat Pebble Beach, was no accident, nor was the continued rise of Rose Zhangvictorious last month in her very first tournament played with professional status.

Rose Zhang 5e ex-aequo

Corpuz is now the 6th player in the world, and an obvious candidate for a place in the American team of Solheim Cup. She continued Thursday in the wake of last Sunday: 67 (4 birdies, including 3 on the return) to occupy 14th place, tied with references like Lydia Ko et Minjee Leethe two New Zealanders, in a field that made life difficult on the Ohio course: more than 80 players under par!

Between Grant, Boonchant and Corpuz, there are only two players in 3rd place (-6), i.e. Ariya Jutanugarnanother Thai, tied with the Danish Emily Kristine Pedersen. There are especially 9 players in 5th place (-5), including the Indian Aditi Ashok, victorious in Kenya, and the now inevitable Rose Zhang, determined to take control of the tournament on Friday, if the front quartet were to weaken.

PRB in the middle of a nightmare

This 1st round was a real nightmare for Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, only French representative in this first tournament after the US Women’s Open. Weighed down by 5 bogeys and 2 double bogeys, the Varoise returned a card of 80 (143rd) which will force it to perform miracles on Friday to get closer to the cut.
