Furies

If you like action films and series but still prefer when everything takes place in France, Netflix has thought of you! Always in a desire to modernize French audiovisual productions a little and to move away from the multiple comedies and family dramas that the French public knows well, the SVOD service has decided to concoct a brand new original series very inspired by John Wick, AKA and others Peace of Marseilles. From March 1st, you will be able to discover Furies, a new original French series produced by Netflix and notably starring the extremely famous Marina Foïs in a role that we are not used to seeing at home. She plays Selma, nicknamed Furie, a woman whose reputation is so well established that she helps maintain peace between the six families controlling organized crime in a city of Paris that is much more dangerous than one might believe. Unfortunately, this peace may not last since a member of one of the famous families is murdered at the start of the series. The latter’s daughter will then do everything possible to avenge her father and find the person responsible. If you want to discover this new series which seems very ambitious and which could well become a success, you will have to subscribe to Netflix from March 1st.

The Gentlemen

While movie buffs certainly know him, Guy Ritchie’s name might be a little more obscure for series fans. As a reminder, this British director made his name by directing action films with particularly well-choreographed scenes and thanks to his use of slow motion which often enhances everything without ever overdoing it. We owe him in particular some nuggets like Snatch: You steal or you steal, Sherlock Holmes (with Robert Downey Jr.) and King Arthur: The Legend of Excalibur. In 2020, he had also released a film named The Gentlemen in which actor Matthew McConaughey played a London drug lord. From March 7, Guy Ritchie will return to Netflix to expand this universe thanks to the original series The Gentlemen. The latter should this time follow the adventures of Eddie Halstead, an aristocrat who inherits his father’s mansion just after the latter’s death. He will then quickly discover that this area was only a cover for a huge cannabis trade, the same one that Matthew McConaughey’s character was managing in the 2020 film. Eddie Halstead will therefore have to manage everything carefully. to the other gangsters in the city who might try to get their share of the traffic. In the casting, you can for example find Theo James (Divergent), Kaya Scodelario (The labyrinth), Daniel Ings (The Marvels) and Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck). To discover this new series, you will have to go to Netflix from March 7.

Monk

Everyone who watched television a few afternoons in the 2000s knows this series: the private detective Monk will also land on Netflix! Indeed, from March 15, you will be able to discover the entire eponymous series in the SVOD service catalog. The opportunity to see or rewatch the adventures of this famous detective known both for his brilliant mind and for his various manias, obsessive-compulsive disorders and other phobias which have the gift of surprising, amusing or annoying the various witnesses, suspects and criminals involved in all the cases dealt with by the series. Of course, Adrian Monk does not work alone since he is constantly accompanied by his assistant Sharona Fleming (then Natalie Teeger in seasons 4 to 8). If you like long series Grey’s Anatomy or NCIS, this is precisely what you will find here since Monk offers no less than 125 episodes of 45 minutes divided into 8 different seasons. Be careful, the latter was originally broadcast between 2002 and 2009, so expect less beautiful images than what you are used to seeing on Netflix.

The 3-Body Problem

It is without a doubt THE most anticipated series of the year for a lot of people: The 3-Body Problem finally arrives on Netflix from March 21. If you are not yet familiar with this future phenomenon, it is originally a series of Chinese science fiction novels written by Liu Cixin and published between 2008 and 2010 in his country of origin. In France, we had to wait until 2016 to discover this classic of the genre in a translated version, and you will now be able to benefit from a series adaptation thanks to Netflix and two showrunners whose names will necessarily mean something to you: David Benioff and DB Weiss. You read correctly, this series is none other than the brand new production of the duo behind the HBO series Game of Thrones which literally changed the audiovisual landscape when it was broadcast in the 2010s. Suffice to say that expectations are particularly high for this new series, since even if Game of Thrones was undoubtedly an exceptional series, it was also remembered for its disastrous ending. Please note, it will not at all be the same type of story here since we are moving from Heroic-Fantasy to Science Fiction. Some actors from the HBO series will, however, be returning, and the storyline should revolve around a mystery with repercussions on the laws of nature and involving the greatest threat in all of human history. As you will have understood, the stakes are particularly high for the series, for Netflix and for the characters, and we can’t wait to discover everything from March 21 on the SVOD platform.
