Toronto leaves Boston lying down with Vlad’s golden hit

TORONTO — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a game-winning single for the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday following coming from behind to beat the Boston Red Sox 6-5.

Pinch hitter Alejandro Kirk led off the final inning with a single off Tyler Danish (2-1) and George Springer walked. Hansel Robles took the mound to face Bo Bichette, who drove in pinch-runner Bradley Zimmer with a single to right. Guerrero followed it up with an RBI single, which drove in Springer’s winning run to the applause of the more than 27,000 spectators in the stands.

Jordan Romano (2-2) pitched one inning to claim the victory and Toronto improved its record once morest the Red Sox to 7-2.

For the Red Sox, the Dominicans Rafael Devers 4-1; Franchy Cordero 2-1. Puerto Rican Christian Vázquez 4-2, with a run scored and an RBI.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 4-2, with one run scored and one produced; Teoscar Hernández 4-2, with a run scored and an RBI; Santiago Espinal 4-2, with an RBI; Raimel Tapia 2-1. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel 4-1, with a run scored. The Venezuelan Gabriel Moreno 4-1.
