The Toronto Maple Leafs punched their ticket to the next playoffs on Friday night.
The Queen City club was not in action, but defeats by the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia Flyers in their respective games led to their qualification.

The Leafs will therefore be in the spring dance for an eighth straight season. They have only made it past the first round once during this streak, last year. They defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, before losing in five games to the Florida Panthers in the second round.
Toronto is 43-23-9 with 95 points in 75 games so far in 2023-24. If the playoffs started tomorrow morning, the Maple Leafs would face the Panthers in the first round.
The Ontario team has a meeting with the Canadian in Montreal on Saturday evening.
