“Total dictation” returns to Bishkek

In 2023, the annual Total Dictation campaign will take place for the 20th time around the world, covering 19 time zones on six continents. On the territory of Russia, residents of more than 600 settlements will write the dictation on April 8, and abroad, 96 cities from 41 countries will join the project. This year, Bishkek will be among them again. This is reported by the organizers of the event.

According to them, it will be possible to take part in the action abroad in 41 states – these are Abkhazia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Egypt, India, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada , Cyprus, China, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar, UAE, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, USA, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, South Africa .

“Of course, the pandemic had a very strong impact on the scale of the action: in 2019, almost 900 Russian and more than 350 foreign cities participated in the action, and only now we are gradually returning to the previous coverage. This year, Cambodia joined us for the first time, and the record holder in the number Kazakhstan became one of the most involved cities abroad, where the action will take place in 10 cities,” said Vyacheslav Belyakov, project manager.

In Bishkek, the dictation will be held at several venues, including universities and schools. The list of sites that have already confirmed their participation can be seen on the website, registration for them opened on March 29. At the same time, according to the information of the project team in Bishkek, several more sites in the city are now deciding to join the project, and information about them will appear on the website a little later.

The total dictation will take place on April 8. Participants at all venues will write a dictation with commemorative branded xGold pens, specially issued for project participants this year.

The first Total Dictation was held in 2004 by students of the Faculty of Humanities of Novosibirsk State University. For 19 years, the action has acquired a global scale: it is organized by the Total Dictation Foundation, and implemented by activists and volunteers in different parts of the world. In 2022, the event brought together more than 780,500 people on its platforms and online. The authors of the dictation at different times were Pavel Basinsky, Guzel Yakhina, Leonid Yuzefovich, Andrey Usachev, Evgeny Vodolazkin, Alexei Ivanov, Dina Rubina, Andrey Gelasimov, Marina Stepnova and others.
