This hard discount brand plans to launch “collaborative supermarkets“from March 1, 2023, in Alès, in the Gard, with the opening of a first store in France. It ensures to offer prices of “5 to 10% cheaper than its competitors“.

The food distribution offer will expand in France.

The hard discount brand Toujust will open its first store in Alès, in the Gard, on March 1, 2023, Midi Libre reported on Saturday January 21. The chain relies on a network of “collaborative supermarkets“, and “the participation of suppliers in the capital of the stores” in order to “eliminate intermediaries and their respective margins“, had indicated the group in a press release published in early January.

This newcomer to the French hard discount market claims that prices will be “5 to 10% expensive than its direct competitors“. And the places of installation were not targeted at random. “Toujust” wishes to invest in medium-sized towns with 8,000 to 12,000 inhabitants, according to Midi Libre. Some 70 stores could be opened before March 31, 2024.

Two other new brands in France

“Toujust” will not be the only brand to launch in France in 2023. The Carrefour group announced in early November the opening of two chains, “Atacadão” and Potager City. Two brands with diametrically opposed concepts. Already present in Colombia, Argentina and Morocco, “Atacadão” is a warehouse store, like Netto. Its first store should open in the fall of 2023 in Ile-de-France.

Ambitious in the organic market, Carrefour will extend its range with the opening of “Potager City”, a start-up it bought in 2020, according to Capital. Three new points of sale will land in Paris in January.
