Tour de Martinique in round skiffs 2022: victory for Ufr /Chanflor in the 4th stage in Fort-de-France

The 4th stage in Fort-de-France (August 4, 2022) crowns the performance of Ufr /Chanflor. Sara’s / Diany Remi’s Autodistribution team keep their lead in the general classification.

New and difficult stage for yokers this Thursday (August 4, 2022) due to an alternation between windless periods and surprising gusts.

The regatta on the Caribbean coast is different from that practiced on the Atlantic coast, hence constant vigilance“, explains Henri-Emile Largen, our consultant. At this game the best is the crew of Sara / Autodistribution.

As soon as we left Saint-Pierre, the boat benefited from the little wind in the morning then resisted thanks to the control of the scull during the passage without the slightest wind off the coast of Carbet. In this way, the skiff advances regularly and “makes the hole”, note the specialists.

The day was marked by further bad luck, particularly for the skiff Royal /Adep and William Saurin / Miltis, which sank off Bellefontaine. Loïc Mas, the boss of William Saurin is taken care of by his teammates for an injury, according to our reporters.

At the end of the course, the race was magnificent between, in order, Sara /Autodistribution (Marin), Rosette /Orange Caraïbe (François) and Ufr/Chanflor (Robert).

On arrival in the bay of Fort-de-France, in front of a considerable crowd, but too many boats, Ufr /Chanflor won after an extraordinary comeback ahead of Sara /Autodistribution and Rosette /Orange Caraïbe.

Rosette/Orange Caraïbe received a 15-minute penalty from the federation of round skiffs in Martinique for refusing priority to the detriment of the Ufr/Chanflor skiff before the Schoelcher buoy, during this 4th stage. “I was not summoned. I couldn’t even defend myself. (…) I come back to yesterday’s stage (August 3, 2022), if it was really the commissioner who made the decision, why the same decision was not taken against Ufr / Chanflor for what happened in Grand-Rivière”, wonders Kenny Exilie, skipper of the Rosette/Orange Caraïbe skiff. To be continued…

Tomorrow (August 5, 2022), 5th stage between Fort-de-France and Diamant.
