FARGO — AAA’s
program is once again returning to North Dakota for the holiday weekend to help keep impaired drivers off the road.
Riders can use Tow to Go from 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, according to a release from AAA. Those seeking a tow home can call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246.
“When called upon, The Auto Club Group dispatches a tow truck to transport the impaired person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius for free,” the release said. “Since its inception, Tow to Go has removed more than 25,000 impaired drivers from the road.”
AAA asks drivers to “treat Tow to Go as a last resort,” the release said, and first consider:
- Arranging a sober driver
- Asking family or friends for a ride
- Not traveling
- Calling a taxi or ride service
“Lyft users in North Dakota who want a sober ride can use code VZWINTER23 to get $10 off their ride from Dec. 18 through Jan 1,” the release said. “The ND Sober Ride program is provided by Vision Zero and sponsored by AAA.”
Tow to Go is a free service that is available to everyone. Each ride is confidential and cannot be scheduled in advance as they are intended to serve as a safety net for drivers without other options.
AAA is offering this service in 11 states this weekend in addition to helping an estimated 937,000 drivers with car trouble throughout the holiday, according to the release.
