TP Mazembe among the qualified for the quarter-finals

The sixth and final day of the Confederation Cup group stage was played on Sunday 3 April. Victorious over Al Masry (2-0), TP Mazembe ranked first in group C and will play in the quarter-finals of the competition. Al Ahli (group A), Orlando Pirates (group B) and RS Berkane (group D) also finished in first place.

The eight clubs qualified for the quarter-finals of the Confederation Cup are known. Libya’s Al Ahli and Egypt’s Pyramids FC finished top of Group A with the same number of points (13 points) and goal difference (+4). Al Ahli takes first place thanks to his goal scored on the ground of Pyramids (2-1 on February 13).

In Group B, first place goes to the South Africans of Orlando Pirates (13 points) ahead of the Libyans of Al Ittihad (11 points).

In Group C, the Congolese of Tout Puissant Mazembe took first place on the last day (11 points) once morest the Egyptians of Al Masry, the other qualified (10 points). TP Mazembe has already won the Confederation Cup, in 2016 and 2017.

Finally, in Group D, RS Berkane and Simba SC finished top with 10 points and a +2 goal difference. The Moroccans take first ahead of the Tanzanians as they won their first encounter 2-0 (February 27) and only lost the second 1-0 (March 13). RS Berkane lifted the Confederation Cup in 2020.

These eight clubs are qualified for the quarter-finals of the Confederation Cup. The draw is due to be held in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday, April 5. The first quarter-finals are scheduled for April 17, while the return matches are to be played on April 24.
