The traffic pressure on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Sirajganj, the gateway to North Bengal, was heavy on Friday as well. However, even though there was no traffic jam on the highway, the traffic was slow.

On Friday (April 21) afternoon, such a picture can be seen in the area of Koddar Mor, Nalka, Hatikumrul Roundabout on the Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Highway.

According to the police, if the moon is sighted on Friday, Eid will be tomorrow on Saturday. Due to this reason, people of different classes and professions return home together at the last moment on the highway
The vehicle is overburdened. Because of this, vehicles are not able to move fast in the six kilometer area of Bangabandhu Setu Western Highway. However, there is no traffic jam on the highway even though it is slow at times. Although the North Bengal lane is slow, the Dhaka-bound lane is normal.

Locals said that in the morning, after the cars stuck in the traffic jam on the east side of the Bangabandhu Bridge left simultaneously, additional traffic pressure was created on the west side of the bridge. Due to this, the speed of traffic slows down a bit. Besides, a car broke down, blocking traffic on the highway. Traffic flow is normal if the broken down vehicle is removed quickly.

Traffic Inspector of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station. Monirul Islam said, ‘Dhaka-Rangpur highway has a lot of traffic. However, there was no traffic jam on the highway. We are ready to deal with any kind of situation.’

Sirajganj Traffic Inspector (Administration) Salekuzzaman Khan Salek said, ‘The pressure of vehicles on the highway is increasing at the last moment. A car broke down in Jhail area of the highway. As a result, it was slow for a while. But now traffic is normal. The district traffic department and the district police are trying their best to ensure that people do not suffer when they return home and ensure their overall safety.

Incidentally, around 800 policemen have been deployed by the District Police, District Traffic Department and Highway Police to keep the Eid Yatra traffic free and the highway safe. Side roads causing traffic jams are blocked with bamboo. The dangerous spots on the highway have been repaired. Police will work on the highway for 11 consecutive days to ensure uninterrupted Eid journey on the 45 km highway of the district.
