The town of Jezzine, south of Beirut, woke up to a shocking news that shook the entire Lebanese society, as a Lebanese member of the Azoury family, a security man, shot his wife and mother-in-law, killing them immediately, then killed himself, Thursday morning, in his residence in the city of Jezzine.
The head of the Jezzine Municipalities Union, Khalil Harfoush, told Sky News Arabia that the man is in his forties, and he is from the town of Azour, which is adjacent to the city of Jezzine.
Harfoush revealed the following:
- Preliminary information indicates that “the harsh living conditions experienced by the family, especially the father who works in the public sector, may be the reason behind this crime.”
- The perpetrator has 3 children, two boys and a girl, who were at home during the crime, which took place at dawn on Thursday.
- According to the eldest son of the victim (19 years old), the difficult financial circumstances that the family is going through behind the crime.
- The murderer had been consuming alcoholic beverages recently and frequently, “according to his son’s statements.”
A security source
A security source in Jezzine district told Sky News Arabia, “The investigations began immediately in the presence of the forensic doctor, Afif Khafaja, and that the accused lives in the same residential building as his wife’s mother, revealing old disputes between the perpetrator and his wife.”
The source pointed out that “the perpetrator is a member of the security forces, and investigations are taking their course to take fingerprints and transfer the bodies of the two dead women to a nearby hospital.”
