The motorcycling world is in mourning after the death of the 22-year-old Japanese rider Haruki Noguchi, who lost his life as a result of injuries he sustained in an accident during the Asia Superbike race that took place at the Mankalika circuit ( Indonesia) last weekend.

The HARC Pro rider was going through lap 10 when he fell out of his vehicle colliding with the Malaysian driver Zazhwan Zaidi. The fatal injuries, however, were inadvertently inflicted by Kasma Daniel, who came from behind and was unable to dodge. The event happened last Sunday, August 13, and Noguchi remained hospitalized for three days.

The race was stopped automatically and the medical personnel went to the place to treat the Japanese from the outset on the circuit and then transferred him to the Nusa Tenggara Barat Hospital, where two days later they ended up announcing the tragic news.

“Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, Haruki sadly succumbed to his injuries on August 16,” lamented the leaders of the Asian championship through a statement in which they offered their condolences to the pilot’s relatives: “The FIM Asia , Two Wheels Motor Racing and everyone involved in the Asia Road Racing Championship extend our deepest condolences to Haruki’s family, friends and loved ones.”

“I still can’t believe we have to make this announcement,” said Jotaron Honda, principal of Noguchi’s team. “Only ten days ago we had the honor of standing on the podium together at the Suzuka 8 Hours and we had just sent him to Indonesia with the hope that he would win the Asia Road Racing title this year,” he detailed.

“At just 22 years old and with unlimited potential, I had high hopes that he would leap onto the world stage as the great hope of Asia’s next generation. It is unfortunate that she passed away so soon while she was in the middle of that trip, ”concluded the manager.

The Asian rider, who took third place on the podium in Suzuka and celebrated it on his Instagram account with a photo celebrating on stage, had just finished second in the 2022 Asia Superbike, the same position he had held so far in this season behind BMW driver Markus Reiterberger.

His first title, meanwhile, was achieved in 2021 by winning in the Supersock 600 category, a European championship that he entered in 2020. As if that were not enough, in 2017, at the age of 16, he had been proclaimed runner-up in the Asia Talent Cup, while in 2019 he came third in the Red Bull Rookies Cup.

In an interview he had conducted with the official Honda site, Noguchi told his story linked to the motor world: “My father used to race minibikes and then I started watching MotoGP. I told him that he was interested and he let me ride a children’s bike ”. In that note made in 2020, he identified himself as a fan of the Spanish Marc Márquez and chose the Suzuka circuit as his favorite: “It’s fun to run. The scenery changes, the speed increases and the impression is technical”.

It should be noted that the competition will resume next weekend in Motegi, where there will surely be a heartfelt tribute to the Asian driver before the start.
