After the dramatic accident that occurred close to the Saint-Mard level crossing, a new victim lost his life on Tuesday on the railway. According to our colleagues from Tv Lux, a person threw himself under a train, on line 162, not far from Marbehan station. “According to the first information collected, a lady of a certain age would have stopped her car along the railway tracks. She would have gotten out and continued on her way on foot to stand on the rails. Unfortunately, the driver of the passenger train coming from Brussels did nothing to avoid the shock. The lady died on the spot,” explains Serge Bodeux, the mayor of Habay.
It was around 3:30 p.m. when the firefighters of Etalle, Arlon and Neufchâteau went to the scene of the accident.
Train traffic between Libramont and Arlon is currently interrupted. A bus shuttle system should be set up.
SNCB advises travelers heading to Arlon/Libramont to travel via Athus. The duration of the interruption is indefinite.
