A woman was fatally injured by a plane while mowing her lawn in the US state of Oklahoma. The pilot had already touched down when landing and might no longer avoid it.
According to police on Monday, the pilot of the small single-engine Bonanza A36 aircraft said he only discovered the woman on the lawnmower when he touched down at Broken Bow Airport, around 300 kilometers southeast of Oklahoma City, on Friday followingnoon. He tried to pull the plane up once more, but caught the 27-year-old with the wing.
Police spokeswoman Sarah Stewart said whether the pilot was being investigated still had to be checked. It is not yet clear whether the woman was wearing a high-visibility vest or whether the pilot might even recognize her. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) did not initially comment.
