Cherthala ∙ A six-month pregnant woman who went to the taluk hospital due to excruciating back pain returned home and gave birth within hours; The baby died. Unnikannan’s wife Dhanya (32) was admitted to the hospital following giving birth at her home in Kanjikuzhi Gram Panchayat 7th Ward. The husband filed a complaint with the health minister and the police, alleging that the child’s death was caused by not providing emergency treatment.
Dhanya sought treatment at Taluk Hospital emergency department at 2.45 am yesterday. Unnikannan said that the doctor went home following the examination. But she gave birth within two hours of reaching home. The baby died immediately following being rushed to the hospital. Unnikannan said that she had sought treatment at the same hospital throughout her pregnancy.
