Kottayam: Two dead after boat capsizes in Vaikam. A boat carrying six members of the same family met with an accident at Chettikari in Vaikom Thalayazham. The deceased have been identified as Putantara Sarath (33) and his sister’s son Ivan (4) of Udayanapuram Kodiad. Four people who were rescued were admitted to the hospital. It is reported that the condition of one of them is serious. The accident occurred while traveling to the mortuary. The deceased four-year-old Ivan is the son of Udayanapuram panchayat member Deepesh.
Meanwhile, last week, one person died in an accident where a boat overturned at the Karapuzha dam in Wayanad. Girish of Nellarachal Naduveetil Colony drowned in an accident near Nyamalamkunn viewpoint. Four people were in the boat at the time of the accident. Three others managed to escape by swimming.
The accident happened around 1.30 pm when the cow was cutting grass and getting into the cart. Local residents tried to rescue Girish but could not save him alive. Residents of the colony near the Karapuzha Dam are used to relying on Kuttavanchi for transportation.
