Police in the province of Quebec said the accident happened shortly before noon, when a piece of construction equipment struck the cable car at the mountain resort, located about 65 miles northwest of Montreal.
The other passenger was taken to a Montreal-area hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said in an email. Investigators from the serious crimes division were dispatched to the scene.
The Tremblant Resort Association declined to comment on the accident, but said via Facebook that activities on the mountain were suspended following the incident.
