Riyadh: Five killed in a car collision near the Saudi-UAE border. Eight people were injured. Two cars collided on Batha-Harad road. A car carrying 12 people from the UAE collided with a car carrying a seven-member Saudi family. A car caught fire.

Rescue operations were carried out by the Highway Police, Civil Defense and Red Crescent. Prince Saud Bin Naif, Governor of the Eastern Province, ordered that the necessary treatment facilities should be prepared for the injured and the steps needed to bury the bodies should be expedited.

Eight people were injured when a vehicle carrying Malayali families returning from Umrah overturned in Riyadh last Saturday. The incident took place on Saturday evening in Riyadh. The van carrying the families of Latif and Muhammad Shafi who had come on visiting visas at the Chettipadi Kormath house in Malappuram Parappanangadi, which was returning to their residence in Huta Bani Tamim at a distance of 200 km, met with an accident.

At around 7 pm, the vehicle hit the divider on the road when it reached Al Hayr on the route from Riyadh to Hutta Bani Tamim. Seven family members and the driver were injured. Latif was admitted to Shumaizi Hospital in Riyadh and his wife Ramlat was admitted to Ali Bin Ali Hospital. Muhammad Shafi, his family and Latif’s children were taken to Al Eman Hospital with minor injuries and released after first aid.

After going to Makkah and Madinah by Umrah agency bus in Batha and returning to Riyadh, he returned to his residence in Hutta Bani Tamim in a pickup van.
