A 28-year-old Belgian fell to his death in the Pyrenees on Saturday, his family reported to Belga on Tuesday.
The accident happened in the French department of Haute-Garonne, where the Brussels resident was on a multi-day hike with a group of friends. Young people between the ages of 20 and 30 had a long experience of mountain hiking.
According to the mountain rescue service of the French gendarmerie, the hikers were well equipped and reacted in an exemplary manner. A major rescue operation was carried out in vain, the fall was fatal.
“The family and the group of friends wish above all to be able to say their goodbyes in peace and to have time to recover from this tragic accident”, specify the relatives of the victim.
