A 21-year-old Russian attacker was found dead on June 23 in Ryazan, a suburb of Moscow, Russia.

According to several Russian media, he fell from the 18th floor of a residential building. Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the cause of death and whether it was suicide.

Savin played for Vityaz Podolsk. He notably played 13 games in Russia’s top league, the KHL, in 2022.

Last week, a former KHL star died suddenly at just 44 years old. The causes of his death were not disclosed, ten days after the tragedy.

Dmitry Tarasov played for 18 years in the KHL, a good part of which with the Khabarovsk club (HC Amur), where he was captain.

These names add to a sad and long list of Russian hockey players who have lost their lives prematurely in recent years.

A month ago, The Journal had identified the case of 30 Russian players who had died under nebulous circumstances, such as a heart attack at age 22, poisoning, drowning, disappearance and death in the middle of a sleep.

If the Russian mafia was responsible for murders in the late 1990s in connection with hockey, the wave of deaths that has continued since raises questions about the safety of players.
