A tragic event occurred at the General Hospital of Zone Number 18 of Playa del Carmen, in Quintana Roo, in Mexico, when a six-year-old girl died after being crushed by an elevator. Although the people present desperately tried to get her out of the place, they could not and the minor died instantly.
The minor was being transferred to that same Hospital, the General of Zone 18 of Playa del Carmen. Everything happened when apparently the stretcher did not fully enter the elevator, and when the button to go up was activated, it was pressed.
In a video on the social network Twitter, you can see how the hospital staff tries to rescue her without success. Ultimately, the girl died from injuries sustained in the impact.
An important piece of information, which became known after the fact, is that Dr. Enrique Leobardo Ureña Bogarín, head of the Administrative Operation Body (OOAD), affirmed that that same day in the afternoon, hospital personnel had reported failures precisely in that elevator.
Immediately afterwards, the company in charge of maintenance called, Sitravem Transportación Vertical en México SA de CV, and the technician, arrived at around 4 in the afternoon of that Monday, July 10.
After more than an hour, Dr. Enrique told the authorities that the technicians had left and did not leave any signage or information about how the elevator had turned out, or whether or not it could be used.
“The hospital notified the competent authorities, with which it collaborates with the investigation so that the corresponding sanctions are carried out. The IMSS will continue to carry out an exhaustive investigation and will fully collaborate with the responsible state authorities to determine all responsibility”, assured the medical head.
A man was arrested for this fact
The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office announced in a statement that it had opened an investigation folder after the girl’s death.
In addition, there is a man in custody, identified as Víctor “F”, the orderly who was carrying the minor when they got on the elevator. All this, due to his alleged participation in “the crime of manslaughter that occurred on the night of July 10.”
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the preliminary investigation indicates that the stretcher-bearer was transferring the girl to the second floor of the hospital: “She enters the elevator and it begins to go up when the stretcher on which the patient was not yet fully entered.”
Finally, it was learned through a video on social networks that Víctor defended himself against his accusations, to which he replied: “I went out through a hole and I still tried to rescue the baby, because we are parents. We know who is responsible,” said the detainee.
