A terrible family drama played out last night in Marchienne-au-Pont near Charleroi. A young man killed his mother and his 16-year-old brother, before seriously injuring his father.
Yesterday evening, around 6 p.m., rue de Forêt in Marchienne, a violent family argument broke out. One of the boys then decides to go get a gun and attacks his family: he shoots his mother and his 16-year-old brother and kills them instantly. He also shoots his father and seriously injures him. His sister was absent at the time of the incident.
The young man then fled. Emergency services and the police quickly arrived on the scene. The area was cordoned off and the public prosecutor’s office and forensic doctors went to the scene.
A seemingly uneventful family is now decimated. The young man responsible for the acts was intercepted at La Louvière Sud station. He was getting ready to take the train.
The prosecution is expected to comment on the tragedy later today.
