It was around 2 p.m. that the tragic accident took place. “Unfortunately, a fatal work accident occurred,” the Leuven public prosecutor’s office told Het Laatste Nieuws. “A worker from an outside company was carrying out maintenance work on pumps and a concrete silo. At some point, the man fell into the silo. Witnesses to the accident immediately raised the alarm, but no help could be provided to the victim. The workplace welfare service has been informed, a labor auditor is on site to further investigate how this accident could have happened.”
